art-A-palooza -- Green, OH

This past Saturday before we went to PorchRokr in Akron, we visited art-A-palooza in Green. This was the 12th annual event that takes place at Boettler park in Green. This one day event showcases local artists and helps provide scholarship opportunities for the community. 

It was a beautiful 90 degree day when art-A-palooza took place, Green is our new home base, so I was excited to have the opportunity to review an event in Green.

Boettler Park has ample parking, we were easily able to park in the parking lot near the play ground. Sometimes parking at large events is a pain, so I'm glad that we were able to do so with little issue.

The exhibitor tents circled the lake at Boettler Park, we just followed the path around. At previous art events I've found that a lot of artists really don't want you to take photos of their work, so I refrained from taking photos of the contents of individual tents (for the most part).

We looked at all of the vendors, but rather quickly as we were heading to another event and not really intending to make a purchase, it took us about half an hour to forty-five minutes to look at all of the tents, but if you're taking your time looking at the pieces it will probably take closer to an hour or more. 









With art tents including paintings, quilts, jewelry, pottery, steel sculptures, and more the art-A-palooza was a pleasant afternoon at the park. We'll be attending again next year.

Right after engagement season (the period from Thanksgiving to New Year's) it's bridal show season. During the last nine months of my engagement I have not attended a single bridal show. Velvet Tango Room -- Cleveland, OH

V elvet Tango Room is in a nondescript hole-in-the wall located on the fringes of the Ohio City and Tremont neighborhoods of Cleveland. From the outside the facade of the Velvet Tango Room blends right into the dilapidated buildings that surround the venue. On Friday night, the street was quiet, the glow of downtown was behind us, but Columbus street was dark. Had we not been to the Velvet Tango Room before, the glow of the neon sign would have been the only thing to lead us to our destination. The Velvet Tango Room is not like other bars, there are numerous articles touting how exclusive and elusive entrance to the Velvet Tango Room can be. Afternoon Tea at Coquette Patisserie -- Cleveland, OH

Happy Mardi Gras! I wanted to get this post in before the end of February and it's fitting, because Coquette Patisserie has King Cake today.  On February 19th Dave and I attended Afternoon Tea at Coquette Patisserie -- this event required registration in advance and it sold out so if you see an Afternoon Tea pop up on Coquette Patisserie's Facebook page make sure to register yourself! Afternoon Tea is an event hosted semi-frequently at Coquette Patisserie -- a quick glance at their past Facebook events showed a December, January, and February tea. However, this is not a monthly event (yet), so if you'd like to attend one keep an eye out and then make sure to book a table.
