Duck Tape Festival -- Avon, Ohio

This was my first visit to the Duck Tape Festival in Avon. The dates for 2015 were June 19, 20 and 21, the festival is always held on Father's Day weekend.

As soon as we arrived at Veteran's Memorial Park it was clear that this festival was incredibly well organized. There was parking on site and there were volunteers directing parking and even though we arrived near the beginning of the festival on the 19, there were quite a few cars already parked.

The first thing we did was stop at the Ducktivities Arts and Crafts Tent. We had a multitude of patterned duck tape to choose from and there were instructions for making wallets, belts, roses, etc. I crafted an owl purse (there were no instructions, but there was a picture of this design on the wall of the tent) and Dave made a wallet from the instructions provided. It was pretty easy to make our creations and Dave thought the instructions were easy to follow.

From the Ducktivities Arts and Crafts Tent, we went over to the merchandise tent where there were a multitude of Duck brand products for purchase.

The theme of the festival this year was "Fun in The Sun" at the merchandise tent we were given our "passport" for the evening. The goal was to look at 5/10 sculptures throughout the grounds, once we had ten stamps we could get our passport photo taken.

The sculptures were large and incredibly easy to locate, a wide variety of ideas and art styles were showcased. Some of the artists were available to answers questions about how long their sculpture took, their inspiration and how much duck tape was used.

We located enough sculptures and were treated to a free passport photo. There were a multitude of duck tape props such as hats, sunglasses and leis. Once our photo was taken, we got as many print copies as we wanted and they were kind enough to email me a copy as well.

To eat there was a variety of fair food, Dave and I enjoyed some stromboli, french fries, lemonade and funnel cake. The festival itself is free, so bring enough cash to enjoy food from vendors if you'd like to eat dinner while you're there. There are live bands all three days as well as a parade Saturday morning.
